Birthday Board

Birthday Board

For years my family and I have celebrated “Birthday week”. The day my two children were born were the best days of my life so why not celebrate it for a whole week? When I ran across this idea on Pinterest, I fell in love. (Original Source: secretsofasupermommy.blogspot.com) With a little help from my husband we created our own birthday board. My children can’t wait until Birthday week. As you can see they get to pick the activities and dinner all week. On the other side of each name panel is my husband and I’s name also. So for his birthday week all 7 days he picked fishing. 🙂 My daughter picked all pizza and chicken nuggets one week.

Items:
Wood for the board
Multiple ribbons
Door Knobs
Picture hanging tab for the back
Chalkboard paint & Chalk
Paint for the board, number blocks and name boards
Gift bag
Clips/Clothes pins

I took a piece of furniture grade plywood and had hubby cut the design in the top. Then I painted it a fun neutral mango color. Then I took 2 drawer knobs and screwed at the top and bottom. Used a cricut for the vinyl lettering. Made my own name sign from dollar store sign that I painted. Added names to front & back with a little something they like. (Skull & Crossbones for the boy and a princess crown for the girl) I did a girl’s version on a pink board. Used ribbon twice to give a “break” in between categories. Made my own chalkboard paint via Martha Stewart’s recipe. Then I just used clips for the activities. You can also use clothespins that you paint or use washi tape on. Have fun with it!
So we have a countdown at the top, dinner choices in the middle, activites at bottom and a bag at the very bottom. (Every morning there was a special treat inside) The number block’s were from Michael’s. They came unpainted for about $1. I painted them another neutral color and applied numbers 1-7. I keep the name boards, numbers and clips and a sterlite tote.
